Academic Research
My research analyzes how new and emerging information and communications technologies (ICT) impacts environmental governance with a particular emphasis on power dynamics. My work sits at the intersection of important discussions around climate & environmental governance, informational governance, and data sovereignty. My work has three primary dimensions: How technology choice changes dynamics between stakeholders Data access and interpretation as power New and emerging ICT for monitoring and changing the environment My background includes having worked as a data scientist at Booz Allen Hamilton and supporting economic and environmental development projects at the Clinton Foundation. I have been an advisor in a political capacity to the DNC Council on the Environment & Climate Crisis. I am a doctoral candidate at George Mason University studying under Dr. Ingrid Visseren-Hamakers and Dr. Susan Crate. I utilize mixed-method research methods, combining a background in both qualitative and quantitative analysis. I tend to favor the use of network ethnographies when possible. I consider myself a pragmatist in regards to questions of epistemology and ontology as my ultimate focus is to produce practical insights for decision makers to improve policy outcomes |
Personal Stuff
Judo
For those who are interested, I am a national level judo coach in the United States and a former elite competitor. As a coach I am generally focused on special projects such as scouting for elite competitors and working with athletes competing outside of traditional judo competition. I have worked closely with athletes in Brazilian Jiujitsu and Mixed Martial Arts. While this page is primarily focused on my academic work, the old judo pages are up for those who might be interested and to support some related side projects.
